TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

North Cascades National Park

Offering hiking, camping, and climbing opportunities, the North Cascades National Park is a vast assemblage of woods and valleys in the Cascades. The Thunder Creek Trail and Ross Lake are two more well-known locations. Nestled in the park, the unincorporated village of Stehekin is a charming urban retreat with spotty grocery and no cell phone service.

Seattle Center and the Space Needle

The Space Needle at Seattle Center is arguably the city's most famous significant attraction. Constructed for the 1962 World's Fair, it remains the focal point of the expansive Seattle Center. More of Seattle's most famous landmarks, including some of the top museums in the city, surround the rotating observation deck. The 74-acre Seattle Center property houses restaurants, parklands, museums, Monorail, and Space Needle. Two indoor tourism options are the vibrant glass artworks at Chihuly Garden and Glass and the Frank O. Gehry-designed Museum of Pop Culture.

San Juan Islands

The San Juan Islands are located on the northwest coast, north of Puget Sound. There are 174 identified islands, the four most significant of which are easily reached by ferry. Orcas Island, Lopez Island, Shaw Island, and San Juan Island are the names of these four islands. Friday Harbor, the county seat and largest city, is located on San Juan Island and is frequently used as a starting point for more extensive travels. Each principal island has parks, galleries, and seafood restaurants, including San Juan Island National Historic Park. The historic park includes two camps, one American and one British, from the middle of the 1800s. The park provides information about the Pig War disagreement and camp life here.

Mount Rainier National Park

The highest peak in the Pacific Northwest, Mount Rainier, rises to 14,410 feet (4,392 meters) and provides amazing hiking and biking opportunities. In the winter, the park is also open for skiing and snowboarding. Because Mount Rainier rises majestically above the rest of the state, you may still appreciate it without going to the park.
